San Diego's Cigar Scene
San Diego has a stronger cigar scene than most California cities because several true cigar lounges cluster around Kearny Mesa, Old Town, Hillcrest, the Gaslamp, Miramar, and nearby La Mesa. The best current stops are Excalibur for a large humidor and full bar, Churchill for Old Town beer-and-wine patio smoking, the Gaslamp trio of Cesar's, Cuban Cigar Factory, and Gran Havana, and Hoffer's for a reopened East County cigar-bar option.
The city guide needed address cleanup: Excalibur is in Kearny Mesa, Royal Cigar Lounge is on Miramar Road, Gran Havana is on Fourth Avenue, and Cigars On 5th is in Hillcrest, not the older downtown placeholders. Rooftop and generic nightlife bars are less useful than dedicated cigar venues here.

San Diego Cigar Tips
Best Times to Visit
Gaslamp cigar bars run latest on weekends. Old Town, Kearny Mesa, Miramar, and La Mesa are better for afternoon or early evening sessions. Call ahead for group seating, especially at Excalibur, Churchill, Royal, and Hoffer's.
Neighborhoods to Explore
Kearny Mesa/Miramar has the deepest lounge-and-retail options. Old Town is best for Churchill and Racine & Laramie. Gaslamp works for cigar-and-drink plans before or after dinner. La Mesa adds Hoffer's for a reopened regional cigar bar.
What to Check
Some venues serve full spirits, while Churchill is beer and wine focused. Several places have patios or outdoor seating, but do not assume any normal bar patio allows cigars.
